Stacey runs her own consulting business, Write Fit Solutions, helping her clients with all the things she loves about proposals, from coaching and training on best practices, to developing and implementing process changes, to revitalizing content management repositories and implementing content management and proposal automation best practices, to leading proposal efforts for clients that range from small, tech based start-ups to non-profits to fortune 100 companies in commercial and government sectors and across a range of industries. Stacey earned her BA in English and women’s studies from Cleveland State University in Cleveland, OH, is APMP certified (Foundation and Practitioner), and was recognized in the inaugural class of APMP 40 Under 40. She is also an active APMP member and has served on the Greater Midwest Chapter Board of Directors since 2017 as the Publications Chair, then Secretary, Vice Chair, and currently as Chapter President.
Andrea Dunger serves as Senior Associate, Contracts and Proposals for Vizient, Inc., an Irving-TX based Group Purchasing Organization (GPO). Prior to her position with Vizient, she served as Proposal Manager for MedAssets Performance Management Solutions, Inc., which was acquired by Vizient in February, 2016. In total, she has more than 10 years’ experience in proposal management. Andrea has served for the past four years GMC Events Chair, and on the Events Committee for two years prior to her Chair position.
Andrea earned her B.S. in Business Management from Southeast Missouri State University (Cape Girardeau MO), specializing in Office Systems Management. She attained her Foundation Certification at the GMC Symposium in 2013. She has also participated in many of the webinars offered to expand her proposal knowledge base and is often asked to share her learnings with her team. She is viewed as a valuable addition to not only the proposal team but the company in general.
Alan Minnick is an Executive Director and Senior Proposal Manager at JPMorgan Chase Bank, N.A. He supports J.P. Morgan’s Commercial Banking sales force in responding to RFP’s for Treasury Services opportunities for middle market businesses and government units across the United Sates. He has over 23 years of experience in proposal management. Alan also has seven years of business development and product management experience in the in eGovernment services market. He has served on the Chapter’s Board since 2008. Alan holds the foundation level certification in APMP. Alan lives in Chicago, IL.
Megan Kean has spent the past six years in the A/E/C industry as a Proposal Coordinator. Currently, she works for Kiewit, focusing her strategic efforts in the energy markets across North America. Prior to joining the corporate world, Megan spent seven years in higher ed as part of a communications and marketing team. It was there she was first introduced to the world of proposal… by writing RFPs.
Megan earned her B.A. in English, art, and journalism from Augustana University (Sioux Falls, SD), and her M.S. in Technical Communication from Missouri S&T (Rolla, MO). She achieved her Foundation Level Certification in 2017. For the past five years, Megan has served on the Events Committee for the Greater Midwest Chapter and is excited to make the jump to a new position on the board.
Jen has been with Element Fleet Management (Formally GE Capital Fleet Services) since 1988. Element provides leasing and fleet management services. She has worked in a variety of positions from Tax, Accounting, Operations, Sales, Customer Service, Product Management and RFPs for more than four years. Having the opportunity to work in many areas of her company has grown her network of SMEs and product knowledge. Jen is also on the Steering Committee of Element’s Women’s Network in Eden Prairie, MN. Outside of work, she volunteers with the local chapter Dollars for Scholars board. Jen is new to APMP and sees the value in being a member. The webinars and the mentor program have provided her with deeper insight on how other companies handle their RFP process. In communicating the value of APMP to her manager, the rest of her team will be joining next year. She currently serves as the GMC Membership Chair and is looking forward to continuing in this capacity in 2020.
Christine Sowinski, MBA, CF APMP is a Technical Proposal Manager at Michels Corporation in Milwaukee, WI. She joined APMP in 2018 and serves on the Events Committee and co-presented at the 2019 Symposium. Christine has 12 years of proposal and marketing experience in the architecture/engineering/construction industry. When she’s not managing proposals – she enjoys traveling, volunteering at the Ronald McDonald House, and baking cookies.
Strive for excellence and strive for efficiency. This is one of Nichole L. Reber’s mantras as Webinar Series chair and as Senior Tech Writer for AAR’s Government Services team. Nichole loves the processes and teamwork involved in proposals, and she aims to become a proposal manager. While earning certification on Conscious Leadership and Team Management from the University of Chicago, she compounds her learning through two mentors met at APMP BidCon 2019. Chicago has repeatedly beckoned Nichole home, though she has racked up almost 50 addresses— without being a military child. An award-winning literary writer, she is finishing a memoir about living in other countries. If you see Nichole at an APMP event, please introduce yourself!
Dena Stukenberg, CP APMP serves as the Divisional Vice President, Proposals & Enrollment for Health Care Service Corporation (HCSC). Dena has been with HCSC for over 20 years and has held various roles within proposal development. She is currently responsible for oversight of all commercial proposal operations for HCSC’s five divisions (Illinois, Montana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas), Open Enrollment support and meeting planning that support client and consultant events. Proposal operations include responding to Request for Proposals (RFPs) and Request for Information (RFIs) received from local and national consultants, brokers and accounts as well as content management for maintaining commonly used answers for proposal responses.
Dena previously worked at HCSC’s wholly-owned subsidiary, Dental Network of America where she responded to dental Request for Proposals for all HCSC divisions. She has been recognized as an industry leader in the proposal profession by her colleagues internally as well as through non-HCSC Blue Plans and the Association for Proposal Management Professionals (APMP).
Dena Chairs the RFP/RFI Workgroup through the Consortium. She is actively involved with the APMP and serves on the Midwest Chapter Board. Over the past few years, she has been a mentor to other APMP colleagues, presented numerous times for APMP, once at the APMP Annual Conference and again through a APMP Webinar series for development and growth trainings for proposal professionals.
Dena has over 22 years of experience in a Proposal environment and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in English from Illinois State University. She also holds a Practitioner Level Certification through APMP.
Hayley Flamm is an APMP Certified proposal manager with Burns & McDonnell where she implements proposal best practices, manages a team of proposal coordinators, conducts strategy sessions, develops win strategies, and manages pursuits from capture to shortlist. Prior to her current position, she served as pursuit strategy specialist where she assisted with the development of new pursuit training modules, conducted training sessions, and assisted in the implementation of pursuit best practices company-wide. Hayley has been an active member of APMP and the Greater Midwest Chapter since 2011. She is a frequent attendee and presenter at the APMP Annual Bid and Proposal Conference and GMC events. Hayley served as 2016 Publications Chair, 2017 Membership Chair, and 2018 Vice Chair. Based in Kansas City, MO, Hayley currently serves as the 2019 Chapter Chair and is looking forward to continuing delivering excellent value to our members by leading the Mentorship Program in 2020.
Lindsay Lange wandered into the proposals profession almost five years ago. A military wife hailing from Nebraska, she continually searches for the elusive work-life balance while trying to build her family and career. Since receiving the Foundation Level APMP Certification, Lindsay has made it her mission to help others pursue their own path of certification. She values faith, family, friends, and her beloved football.
Kaitlin Kousaie is a Senior Proposal Coordinator at Election Systems & Software in Omaha, Nebraska. Kaitlin has been with ES&S since April 2015 and has seven years of experience as a proposal coordinator. Prior to joining ES&S, she was an RFP Specialist at EnvisionRx Options in Twinsburg, Ohio. This past May, Kaitlin received the APMP-Foundation Level Certification. Kaitlin graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio with a bachelor’s degree in Spanish. Kaitlin currently lives in Omaha, Nebraska and enjoys reading, traveling and spending time with her family and two-year old golden retriever, Penny.
Karin Olson Held is an APMP Practitioner level certified proposal manager with Noridian Healthcare Solutions, LLC in Fargo, N.D. With 15 years of experience in federal, state, and nonprofit proposals, she currently works in the health care industry in business development. Her experience includes proposal management, writing and editing, and internal process development. Karin enjoys mentoring new proposal professionals on her team and implementing industry best practices. After attending the annual APMP Bid and Proposal Conference and webinars for several years, she looks forward to becoming more involved with the Greater Midwest Chapter. Outside of work, Karin loves to read, knit, and camp with her family.
Heidi Romero joined BMO Harris Bank (then M&I Bank) in 2004 as a Treasury Management Sales Associate for Business customers and Inside Sales. From there she was promoted to a Sales Associate for the Commercial and Mid-Market client base. In 2010 she was promoted to Officer and moved into a Senior Implementation and Portfolio Management role during the M&I/Harris Bank acquisition working with large corporate customers through the merger. In April 2014, Heidi joined the Proposal/RFP Team as a US Proposal Manager for the bank. She was then promoted to Assistant Vice President in January 2016. She has been an active member of APMP since 2014 and achieved her Foundation level accreditation in June 2015, as well as her Practitioner certification in September 2018. Heidi works diligently to instill APMP’s best practices and her proposal passion in every opportunity which resonates through her team and the sales process. Heidi is based in Milwaukee, WI.
Heidi assisted on the GMC Events Committee in 2016, 2017 and 2018 and the GMC Marketing Committee in 2019. She looks forward to continuing her support of the GMC in her Board position as the Events Chair in 2020.
Courtney’s experience spans across the proposal and marketing spectrum. Her career started in the construction industry where she focused on proposals and eventually took on the role of Marketing Manager. Responsibilities included proposal management, creation and maintenance of the company content library, oversight of social media posts as well as internal and external communications, and collaboration with senior leadership to identify business development and marketing opportunities.
In February of 2019, she became engaged to a Wisconsin native and started planning for their joint future. Seeking a mentor, expanded career opportunities, and close proximity to family, she accepted a job in Indiana in an industry closely related to construction—engineering. She is currently focusing on proposal and marketing responsibilities, and as time allows, wedding planning!
Silke Cole is a Senior Proposal Writer at top 15 accounting and advisory firm Baker Tilly Virchow Krause, LLP. She enjoys bringing APMP members together at local meetups, providing opportunities to network and share industry insights. Silke holds a Foundation-level APMP certification and was recognized with the 2018 Greater Midwest Chapter Member of the Year award. In 2019, she served as Secretary on the Chapter’s Board of Directors.
Silke came to proposal management from a 20-year career in film production, marketing and international distribution. Originally from Germany, she is a graduate of Freie Universität Berlin with a Master of Arts in American Studies. She currently lives in the Milwaukee area with her husband and daughter. In her free time, she is actively involved in local nonprofit causes.
Caryn began her first job as a Proposal Professional in 1997. Over the years she has worked on IT products and services, Professional Services and Consulting RFPs for corporate and public sector clients around the globe.
Caryn achieved her APMP Foundation Certification in 2016 and Practitioner Certification in 2019. In 2018, Caryn founded Once Upon an RFP, where they transform clients’ proposal stories to win the best business and make a bigger impact. You’ll now find Caryn enjoying her work with clients, as well as the creative and intellectual challenges of business ownership. In September 2019, Caryn was awarded the GMC 2019 Chapter Member of the Year award. She was nominated for her work in developing the new Consultants Virtual Networking Group that will connect proposal consultants with their peers and provide relevant programs and support.
Caryn earned her B.A., Classics and B.S., Anthropology, Cum Laude, at Loyola University Chicago. She is an alum of Loyola’s John Felice Rome Center. She completed her Master of Library and Information Science at Rosary College (now Dominican University).
Katherine Becchina, CF APMP is a proposal strategist at an AEC firm headquartered in Kansas City, Missouri. Like most people, Katherine stumbled into the proposal industry nearly six years ago and got her start printing and binding proposals for the company. With the help of great mentorship, she was quickly introduced to the opportunities and possibilities in the pursuit and marketing industry. After a few years of hard work and dedication, she now provides strategic sales and marketing support and leads capture teams on a range of proposals including multi-million dollar strategic pursuits. Katherine is also a member of the marketing committee on the APMP Greater Midwest Chapter and looks forward to serving the board next year as Publications Chair.
Bette Sturino has more than 13 years of proposal management experience and currently supports commercial/local government RFPs for BMO Financial Group’s Treasury & Payment Solutions team. Her experience includes proposal management, content development, and proposal center management. She enjoys mentoring new professionals and being an advocate for APMP. Bette earned her Practitioner Certification in 2016. She has been involved on GMC’s Board in varying roles (2014 Events Committee, 2015 Professional Development Support, 2016 Professional Development Chair, 2017 Vice Chair, and 2018 Chapter Chair, and 2019 Communications Chair). Bette created the chapter’s 2016 webinar series called “Proposal Vitamins to Boost Your Competencies”, which will be refreshed through the South Africa Chapter in 2019.
Bruce Farrell is a Proposal Manager at Plante Moran and he has been working in business communications and development for 20 years. At Plante Moran, he is responsible for developing proposals and presentations for the management consulting practice. He presents at conferences across the country on the topic of print and presentation design. He is based in Southfield, MI. This is his sixth year serving on the GMC Board. He is also a member of APMP International’s Board of Directors and he is a Co-Chair for its Chapter Liaison Committee and leads the APMP Membership Committee
